Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was when she discovered a piano in her loft, and becoming amazed by its sound. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes urged Aurora to pursue music. Not for an income or to pursue an interest, but as a way to improve. So she started her own compositions. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an appreciation for the style of Bjork. When she was told by her mother that her music could not only help her gain not only fame but also help others see their importance in the world and realize how they can benefit from their music, she made the decision to start performing in public. In the age of 6, she began to play on the piano. When she turned nine was writing music. It wasn't known to her family about her musical talents until she turned fourteen. Aurora is not something she set out to achieve. She says she just likes music and writing. According to her, music is the best way to convey anything.
